South Star Cemetery

The people of the Star neighborhood have laid out a cemetery on J. P. Braynard's place.
[Source: Graham County Times (Hill City, Kansas), 20 February 1890.]

The oldest marked grave is for Martha Townsend, who died in 1891.

Driving directions:
From Hill City, drive north on U.S. Hwy 283 for 8 miles. Turn left (west) on Y Road and drive 8 miles. The cemetery is at the junction of Y Road and 190 Avenue, on the north side of the road.

From Lenora, drive east out of town on Washington Avenue. After 1 mile, the road will curve to the right (south). Continue driving south for 3 miles. The road will curve to the left (east) for 1/2 mile and then back to the right (south). These are sharp curves, so please maintain a safe speed. The road has crossed into Graham County and is now called 200th Avenue. Continue driving south for 6 more miles to the intersection with Y Road where there is a Yield sign. The old South Star School will be on the southeast side of the intersection. Turn right (west) and drive for one mile. The cemetery will be on the north side of the road.
